The EXPERIENCE approach is based on the principle of sustainable tourism. Therefore, as well as generating economic prosperity, the project aims to bring benefits to the environment and communities, and to mitigate any impact of increased visitor numbers.

The project will achieve this by enhancing protected habitats, using low-carbon options, e.g. solar and automated lighting and heating, using local suppliers to reduce food miles and opting for recycled materials for signs and surfaces.

The idea is that revenue generated in the six areas will be fed back into their local economies which will help protect and maintain their natural and cultural attractions.

At the end of the project, the new tourism strategy and learning gained through EXPERIENCE will be shared freely on our website. This will enable regions through the UK, France and across the world to take our experiential tourism model and tailor it to their own areas.
